Shantam

Shantam

The tranquil Shantam meditation center will be nestled in the serene and sacred surroundings on the banks of the holy river Kshipra, in the spiritual hub of Ujjain. Discover the art of meditation through the Hanuman Chalisa and forge a timeless connection with the self at SHANTAM.

Shantam will be a unique space, distinct from both a conventional temple and an ashram. It will feature a meditation hall—a harmonious blend of devotion and tranquility set amidst picturesque surroundings, ideal for practicing meditation and yoga. The hall, fully air-conditioned and capable of seating 200 practitioners, will boast a stage where a special idol of Lord Hanumanji will be enshrined.

This hall will facilitate group meditation sessions, allowing 200 devotees to partake in the 24-minute Hanuman Chalisa meditation course. What sets this hall apart is its ability to immerse practitioners into a state of ‘nothingness’ or ‘zero’ upon entry. Surrounded by natural beauty and complemented by an attached Gau-shala (cow shelter), the hall will radiate positive energy. Serving as the focal point of Shantam, it is meticulously designed to transcend the conventional boundaries of a temple or an ashram.

Cow Shelter:

A distinctive feature of Shantam is the Gau-shala, or cow shelter, reserved within its premises. Unlike typical cow shelters found across the country, Shantam’s Gau-shala serves a unique purpose. Here, either a single cow or a maximum of seven cows will reside, becoming an integral part of the meditation process. Practitioners will sit near the cows, absorbing their positive energy, and meditate by focusing on the eyes of the cows. This aspect of the Gau-shala will be incorporated into the Hanuman Chalisa meditation course. The construction and design of this Gau-shala are meticulously planned to function as an open meditation center. Through ‘Cow Meditation’ or ‘Gau-Dhyan,’ individuals can connect with simplicity and peace, offering a unique experience within Shantam.

Administration Building:

Spanning 3000 sq. ft. over three floors, the administration building will serve as the nerve center of Shantam. Alongside guest accommodations, it will also house the Guru Nivas, the permanent residence of Pandit Vijayshankar Mehta.

Annakshetra (Kitchen/Dining Area):

Shantam will feature an Annakshetra, a kitchen and dining area designed to enhance the meditation experience. Recognizing the crucial role of food in yoga and meditation practices, special emphasis is placed on purity and cleanliness at Shantam. The kitchen will span approximately 625 sq. ft., while the dining hall will cover around 1000 sq. ft. Eating at Shantam will be akin to participating in a sacred ‘yagya’ (fire ritual), imbued with purity and holiness. This act of consuming food will aid in achieving inner peace. Participants in the meditation course will be encouraged to have at least one meal daily in the Shantam dining hall, as it forms an integral part of the course curriculum. Thus, great importance is accorded to the kitchen and dining areas at Shantam.

Additionally, Shantam will also include a temple and a yagya shala (sacred fire ritual hall) as part of its facilities.
